Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

About Us

  • Resonate affirmations are personalized affirmations created from your emotions and real-life experiences.

Our affirmations are sensory-friendly, focusing on gentle self-acceptance, emotional regulation, and inner strength. They aim to validate your experiences, without relying on forced or toxic positivity.

  • Resonate is for people going through anxiety, overthinking, emotional stress, or major life changes. It’s especially helpful during periods of uncertainty, when things feel unclear or overwhelming — such as pregnancy, burnout, breakups, or starting a new chapter.

  • Resonate differs from many affirmation apps by not using fixed, category-based affirmations that are the same for everyone, such as general affirmations for self-love or confidence.

Instead, Resonate generates affirmations from your own emotions and real-life experiences, making them more believable and relevant to your specific situation.

For example, if you are starting a new job in a new country and feel anxious during your first few months, a generic affirmation may only address anxiety in general. Resonate creates affirmations tailored to that exact context, such as:

“Even though this job and country feel unfamiliar, I am allowed to learn at my own pace.”

  • Resonate creates personalized affirmations from written reflections you share about your emotions, challenges, or life changes. You share a few details about your emotions, challenges, or current life situation, and Resonate generates affirmations tailored specifically to you — not generic quotes.

If you already journal, you can simply paste short entries into the app, and Resonate will turn them into affirmations that reflect and support what you’re experiencing in that moment.

  • No. You don’t need to write affirmations yourself. Resonate guides you with simple prompts and creates affirmations based on what you share.

  • Yes. You can choose to listen to affirmations or read them, depending on what feels more supportive in the moment.

  • Slowly and consistently. Reading or listening to affirmations during quiet moments, before sleep, or during stressful times can be helpful.

Resonate is designed with the understanding that your life situations and emotions can change daily, which is why regular use can help provide ongoing support through these shifts.

  • No. Resonate is a self-support tool, not therapy. It’s designed to offer gentle emotional support between or alongside other forms of care.

  • Yes. The information you share is used only to generate your affirmations and is not shared publicly.

  • No. Resonate is currently available on iOS only.

More About Affirmations

  • Many people think affirmations are “woo-woo” because generic affirmations are not personal or grounded in real situations. For example, being told “everything will be okay” can feelunrealistic when your circumstances may take weeks or months to improve. When affirmations feel too far removed from reality, they can come across as forced or dismissive. In some cases, this is described as toxic positivity.

Resonate focuses on the specific details of your current situation, creating affirmations that support what you are experiencing right now, rather than making broad or unrealistic claims.

  • Affirmations help by giving you clearer and kinder language to use with yourself. Often, you know you want to feel or do “better”, but you rarely sit down and say it to yourself in complete, specific sentences. Putting your intentions into clear, compassionate language creates a more complete picture in your mind, which can reduce mental blockers and support new ways for your brain and body to respond.

Over time, repeating believable and relevant affirmations can help calm yourself and gradually shift thought patterns and emotional awareness, helping you move through life’s challenges.

  • Generic affirmations are broad statements written for general themes like confidence or healing. They are not created for a specific person or situation, so the same affirmations are often used by many people.

Personalized affirmations are written for what someone is actually experiencing. They reflect a person’s emotions, struggles, and context, which can make them feel more believable and relevant.

For example, after a heartbreak, generic affirmations might focus on moving on in general. A personalized affirmation can acknowledge the feeling of being lost and questioning one’s identity, such as:

“Even though this breakup has left me feeling lost and unsure of who I am, I am allowed to take my time to rebuild myself”

  • Yes. Personalized affirmations can acknowledge how you feel and remind you that your emotions are valid and understandable, rather than trying to override anxiety with forced positivity.

When you feel validated, you are more likely to feel safe and less alone, making it easier to cope with what’s happening.

  • Affirmations can be especially helpful during major transitions, such as pregnancy, divorce, career changes, or moving to a new country, when identity feels unstable and there is a lot of ambiguity. During these periods, self-affirmation, which literally means backing yourself, can support self-trust and compassion as you navigate decisions and uncertainty.

  • Some people feel calmer immediately, while for others the effect is more gradual. Affirmations tend to work best as gentle, repeated support rather than instant fixes.
